Search for custom finials. That should help you. The Jr. series of pens are good ones to look at for using custom finials.

Most of the custom cabochon's I have turned out of work for the Legacy Jr. and Caballero kits measure right around 0.4 inches (10.16mm), so I have been thinking about buying a few 10mm cabochons from a jewelry parts supplier made colored glass, or stone like Rose Quartz. A while back I used 1-inch clear glass cabochons from our local Hobby Lobby store and an inkjet printed image to make the finials for the turning tools I made. Perhaps something like that but using smaller cabochons might work for pens too.

Thank you all for your input and feedback! I'm about 3 months new to a lathe and pen turning, so it may be a while before I attempt it. That said, boy am I intrigued :)
 
Check out dye sublimation and doming kits. It takes some investment and time but you can do as many as you like for pennies. Check out you- tube for dye sub printing and doming. Conde has all the equipment you need
