Hard to believe he's been gone two years. I still talk to him everyday.

My bestest Lakota.

Hard to believe how attached you get. I used to save a couple of spoons of milk whenever I ate cereal for Buck. Been almost 2 years and I still can't finish the milk.

Lakota looks like a champ of a companion.

Mike, I understand. I lost my best friend Mack last July. He was a 12 year old Bullmastiff who had been blind since 4. I truly mourned more for his loss than any since the passing of my father 25 years ago. Mack's photo is in my office and I have his plaster cast foot print on my desk. I will never forget him and never stop missing him.

You will always have the memories of the good times with Lakota. Cherish those.

Mike, I know how you feel, I'm lucky I still have one of my buddy Damon's pups, and she looks just like him, She isn't him, but she's a great companion, with 5 Shepherds, she still is the one that my wife will let up on the bed, and always gets the last bit of my food when I eat at home. But you never get over loosing the great ones.

I lost my Choc Lab, Toby almost 2 years ago to Brain Cancer. I had to drive home from Idaho on my grandson's bithday to have him put down. That was also the day Mike Vick was arrested and I listened to Fox news all the way and got so angry that I hope Vick never gets to play football again. I still have his collar on the bedpost on my side of the bed along with his two predessors, Jerry and Max. I can still pick up his collar and smell him. We have since aqurired 2 new dogs one from the animal shelter and one that was dumped on our porch the end of January, the are great dogs and companions but they don't replace Toby or for that matter Jerry and Max. The vet sent us a plaster cast of Toby's paw print and a nice card signed by the whole staff which is on the wall in the bedroom with pictures of all our past and current pets.

Beautiful Dog. Reminds of a Husky I was got from a Husky rescue. He was a good dog but needed someone to be around all day because he would cry when I was gone. I did manage to find him a good home with a friend who had another Husky. Still miss him though.

You never forget your best pal. I lost Teddy almost a year ago and I am still always looking for him. I hope that your memories keep you company when you miss him most.

It takes a long time to get past them... if you ever do. Last week, I went to my mother's door and rang the bell, and for a brief moment, wondered why her dog Buster didn't come barking.

Then, I remembered that it's been over five years since I dug his grave for her in her back yard. :frown:

Last weekend I had to bury my little guy. He was my first longhorn that I grew. the little bull got his head stuck in the utility trailer and cut off his airway. I will miss him.....

I had a thirteen ye old yellow lab. She passed 2 yrs ago mar 27. I have her buried in the back yard with her own head stone. Not a day goes by when we don't look back there and remember the many, many memories. I know how all of you feel. You lose a part of yourself when they go.

I knew I shouldn't of read this thread. Every time I read these I start getting teary-eyed. Sorry for your loss Mike. It's been almost six years since my golden retriever passed. It's kind of corny but now-a-days I look forward to those times when I have dreams about Rusty and I having adventures together. They seem so real!
