I am brand new to pen turning, new to turning in general. So after seeking out this forum and doing lots and lots of reading I am now the owner of a lathe and all the basic necessities I need to turn some pens including some Rosewood blanks and some Slimline kits.
The generosity and willingness to share by the members of the forum is amazing. Out of the goodness of her heart Cathy Sue (CSue) sent me a box of blanks, each one different with a variety of woods and some resins. The first time I spoke with her was when she sent me a msg asking for my address. She said when she started she received some blanks and wanted to do the same for me. I don't know how to thank her except to promise to do the same for someone in the future.
Thank you, Cathy Sue. You are an example of how I see the family of turners on this forum. Thank you all for the knowledge I have gained so far and I look forward to learning much more as I progress in my turning.

Great group of friends. The same thing happened when I first joined and everyone said dont worry about it, just pay it forward. I have done so with many packages and I feel great that with each one, I am helping a fellow turner get started and in fact creating a chain reaction of good deeds.
Cathy Sue a while back posted a picture of a pen that her friend painted flower pictures on. I asked her to see if her friend could do one for me with orchids. She got back to me and said her friend isnt sure if she could do it so Cathy created a custom cast for me with a beautiful picture of an orchid on it.

Ah shucks, guys! Thanks - and do 'pass it forward.'

I gotta tell you though - that orchid pen really looks great!
