I haven't read this in detail... I've actually developed my own method of doing my peppermills, but this might be a good start for you..

It will also depend on what mechanism you use. Each one is different. The crush grind are the best, but there is the shafted and the shaftless version. the shafted version is easier due to less stringent demants on fitting.
