Hi all,

I hope you are well.
After 3 months of work I finished this pen.
Urushi requires time and a lot of patience to get it right. The Urushi ont je oen will continue to improve in the hands of the owner, it will get brighter, smoother.
Nice day,
Teo

Great work Teo!
I wonder if you used urushi powder or rapeseed, I would bet on the latter. Very attractive result anyway!

Ok now you have peaked my curiosity, how are mustard seeds used? Do they help create the "eyes" or are used for the color?

The seeds are sprinkled over a fresh layer of Urushi and let dry a couple of days, removed and layers of black Urushi are applied.
Sending it's performed till the pattern is revealed

Oh WOW Teo, that is a beautiful pen. Personally, I think that it is one of your nicest pens so far. The shop should smell nice for a while, the mustard seed should smell good while turning the blank.

Teo, thanks for sharing, very cool technique. I'm learning that the use of Urushi techniques is not well documented, its passed down and learned from lots of experimenting. I think my biggest issue right now is sourcing all the right supplies.

Keep up the awesome work, we love seeing all of your pens!
