What are the favorite pens for casting?
A guy I work with brought a scorpion to work for me today and it seems like he will need a fairly thick coating of acrylic around the tube.
Any favorites?

Unless you are going to flatten the scorpion, you will need something like the Sierra Vista, which will allow for the thickness of it. I don't know if you could put a scorpion in a phone book to dry and flatten it out or not.

I agree with Jennifer! :)
The Aero/ Elegant Beauty (Dayacom version) has a fair amount of "beef" also.

Make sure that you get all of the water out of the scorpion before casting. (Water will ruin the cast.) Just desiccating and flattening will more than likely make the scorpion too brittle to wrap. A nice bath in DNA or other preservative might work however...

My plan is to put it in boiling water for a few minutes to kill it, then freeze dry it.
So when I get home last night with the scorpion in a Gatorade bottle.........my wife looks at it and says "I think it's already dead". No, I reply, it wants you to think that so you will get it out. After a few minutes of non movement she unscrews the cap and dumps him on the table.
Apparently that is all it takes to bring a scorpion back from the dead.
Great. Now I'm trying to catch a loose scorpion with a frantic wife and two curious Yorkies.

Some people gotta learn for themselves. :search:

The guardian and guardian jr. have a ton of meat on them, especially the guardian. 8mm tube with outer diameter close to 5/8"
