George,
All mine are "Fine Writing Instruments" some are just finer than others:D;).

When selling a pen for $60 does it help to call it a writing instrument?

When does a writing instrument become a fine writing instrument?

Just curious, Lately I've heard people refer to a $20 slimline ballpoint pen as a fine writing instrument while I always thought most members would reserve that term for their nicer, smoother writing pens and more elegant kits.

I guess if I made $20-$40 Slims they would be a "pen" but why would anyone make a $20-$40 pen for sale at shows. When selling even a Serria, replace the refill with a Gel and now you have a "fine writing instrument".

Because if it was a gel I wouldn't buy it. I prefer ball points.

For customers who prefer Ball point I always keep in stock both Black and Blue ball point refills, but 80-90% of customers prefer the smoothness of a gel, different strokes for different folks.

I refer to all mine Fine Writing Instruments as well. It can be a ball point or a fountain pen. When a customer is sending over 50.00 for a pen it a fine writing instrument.

If someone is quibbling over whether to call your product a "pen" or a "writing instrument", then your work hasn't sufficiently captivated them.

I sell art that happens to be a very nice writing instrument. Or a pen made of wood. Whichever they choose to call it, but one thing is for sure, if I haven't dazzled them with my work, I have work to do.
