It is my nature to observe oddities in the ordinary so my first question on this forum might be on the odd side. Every shirt pocket I have now and most I have had in the past forms an ogive that prevents the pen from standing straight up when placed on the edge of the pocket. Is there a reason or is it akin to many OSHA regulations(just the way it is)? Sorry if this sounds a bit crack pot but since I am now making pens I have found myself wanting to have one of my own with me. In the past I would just use whatever is available. All is different now and I would like my pen standing straight in the pocket.

I wear a few Columbia button down shirts, and they all have a separate "sleeve" sewn into the pocket just for pens.

Don't buy a friggin Polo shirt. They normally do not have pockets in them. You pay three times more than you normally would for a shirt, and don't get a pocket. Go figure.

I find that a button shirt yes( especially a polo) ,advertises my pens for me, cause I am trying to sell pens not the clips. Just clip between the buttons and just see how many people ask about your pen. Hand it to them while you tell then about it. Don't hide your pens or they will always be ,your pens.

My point is that it is a conversation starter when you spot someone walking past your booth with a shirt that has nothing in the pocket. It is easy to say, you need to put a pen in that pocket. But if they are wearing a Polo, then you need to stick youy foot out and trip them. That is a little risky. Oh yes, I wear a polo style shirt without pockets and slip the pen in so that the outside shows and have sold many that way.

I don't wear pocketed shirts at all. In fact, i usually only wear T-shirts or sports jerseys. I like to clip my pen on the neckhole for everyone to see.

I have had to stay away from carrying certain pens because it is hard for some people to even realize it is a pen on my shirt. I have a trade pen that i got from a IAP trade. It is casein and turquoise trustone JG fountain. I think people dont know what it is so they dont bother to ask about it.

When i carry a slim or a Euro or similar, everybody asks about my pen.

SOOO... With that being said, if you use a pocket, then a upper end pen may be the way to go, but with no pocket, I like something a bit less exotic.
