Back in Feburary I made a couple dozen pens and sent to a Fire Brigade in Iraq. I got this in the mail yesterday, totally unexpected. Something I will cherish for the rest of my Life.

Yup you just can't beat a nice pen for a gift. Hope your post gets some folks thinking about donating a few pens themselfs.
Thanks for taking the time to share with us.

I am curious how you go about getting an address for doing something like this? My Brother In Law is in the Marines and was overseas but had to fly back to Hawaii because of an injury and I think I am going to make a dozen pens or so for him and the group of guy's he left behind overseas. If anybody is interested I will get the address and I could do a bulk shipment to them.

Jason,

I found a site called "Freedom Pens" out of Virginia that does pens for troops. I emailed the admin, but didn't get a response. Being Active Duty (US NAVY), it's amazing the outpouring of support that you see while deployed. I plan on making a dozen or so pens myself for the project. If I get any more info I'll pass it along.

The guy holding the Flag, SFC Al, from a hunting forum I post on, sent me an email wanting to buy a pen from me. When I told him how much($12.00), he said he was in the army and would have to save up for it. That really bugged the heck out of me. So I emailed him back and told him that I wanted to make some pens for him and his Company. I was very surprised, to recieve the flag from him. It was flown over the base where he was stationed.
