For those of you making pens to help raise funds for Cody's family, I have a thought:

If I understand correctly, the young man has bone cancer. While I realize there are too many ribbons these days, in the case of cancer survivors, the ribbons seem to give some hope and express support.

Having done a little research, it appears the "bone cancer ribbon" color is, appropriately, WHITE. The site I looked at sold white ribbons with gold outline.

It might be a good idea to incorporate that theme, where possible, on the pens you are giving to Dan.

Please feel free to correct me if any of this is incorrect---especially, DAN!!!

Just thoughts to try to make the fund raising more successful!!

Chris,

I'd like to hear Dan's thoughts on that, but if Curtis is getting participation as well as Dan, I kind of expect to see a LOT of pens. So, if some have this theme.............

Again, I would like to hear Dan's thoughts when he stops by.

I think that we will have plenty of "regular" or traditional pens so I like this idea.

I would say that everyone really has the freedom to make whatever kind of pen that they would like. Any pens that are not sold with this theme, I will take to the children's hospital in dallas where Cody is receiving treatment or maybe to the cancer society etc.

Thanks for the suggestion Ed...

Dan

I can also mention/educate the attendees about the symbol/ribbon and I think that it will help the pens when we are selling them and at the auction.

Another idea is to make a couple pens out of Pacific Yew blanks. It has Taxol in it. That's a chemical used to fight many different cancers.
