I came across this site in my travels across the cyber world pretty good site. It had a pen addict test, and I must not lie I am an addict:frown::redface:

The test pertains to antique pen collectors but I substituted handcrafted pens for the questions. Turns out I am an addict. Just a little curious as to how many of us are. I hope I'm not the only one.:):)

Check it out (and don't be afraid to admit it, you can't cure a problem until you face it) just answer the questions here.

Let's see I've got a little over 300 pens . Would that qualify me as an addict ? Naa just getting ready for the fall selling season and really need another 100 or so. Wait I do happen to have 31 in my private collection so....................... maybe.

All you hopeless addicts ... You need to get your family involved with your love of pens , let them revel in it , help them embrace it .

Like most addicts , I want to bring everyone around me down with me ....Addicted

Just as I thought! 192 views and only 12 of us admit to having a problem.
I suspect there are more than just 12 of us lurking about. I've been hanging around this site for a while now and have seen the symptoms in more than just a handful.

A year ago YES, haven't been able to turn for a year so I must have detoxed. Now if you replace pens with SHOPPING, you have me......addicted!!! I can't wait for winter so I can get outside and turn again...........hmmmmm............Hello, my name is Rebecca and I must be an addict.

I am addicted, but what I want to know is, Does everyone only plan what they will buy from their next paycheck? I think I am up to the next 5 or 6 at least. I do have a very creative way to "Smuggle" in the new purchases though. One I have a separate account I buy them from. Somehow this causes my wife to not realize it is still our money paying for them. second it is easy to get the packages past her when they are disguised as group buy cartons.

I guess I'm the only one on here without the pen collector addiction...

I only make pens for fun - I'm not a big seller or a big collector - in fact, I've never actually bought a pen that didn't say 'bic' on it! :)

I do like to turn, however, and pens are cheap to make, comparative to other turning projects (when you have no local hardwoods, that is - all other lumber is painfully expensive up here!)

Didn't need the test to tell me I am addicted. Just have to look around my shop at all of the blanks, chunks of wood and tools to know my answer. Yes, I admit I am also addicted to Pen turning. Sure beats all the other things I could be doing.

Geez Andrew, you need help!!

Funny, I always thought Canada was covered in trees!

Sure is - trees are EVERYWHERE up here, but the wrong type! Canada's the second largest country in the world...even the other side of this province is as far away from here as Mexico...:)

In Southern Ontario, they have temperate deciduous forests. I'm smack dab in the middle of Boreal coniferous forest - similar to Taiga - in which coniferous 'needled' trees abound. The conifers dominate to the point that you rarely see deciduous (broadleaf) trees...the -40 winters likely are the culprit. The only climate colder than this in Canada produces Tundra landscapes.

Spruce, Pine, Fir...great for construction lumber, not great for turning (soft and sappy) There are a very few small poplar trees speckled here and there, but nothing of any size, and all on Crown land.

(Sorry about the Geography lesson - I'm getting in the back-to-school mentality! :))
