a few weeks ago my paypal account reset and I had to re enter all my info. It took me a while to find the checks to my business checking account (i dont ever use the checks, just for paypal) and finally put the account info into pay pal. They have to make a couple of deposits to confirm the account which hasn't happened yet.

My question is this. If I use a credit card to pay for stuff with paypal, does that impact how much money the seller (all guys and gals from the forums) gets, or is it a non issue? Thanks.

I think it is pretty much of a non issue. The seller has to pay paypal fees or credit card fees, both of which are a percentage of purchase price. I think that if you use a credit card to pay through paypal, the seller only has to pay the paypal fees.

Don't mean to alarm you but are you sure that was a legit PayPal message requiring you to resubmit all you data?

PayPal scams are one of the worst around. Maybe you need to telephone PayPal to verify that they did need your data updated.

I've been using PayPal since it started and on Ebay since '95 and have never had to resubmit financial details. Unless you personally needed to re-do your stuff you should verify that PayPal is who you sent it to.

Peter, I agree with the other about this. I would call paypal and just confirm something fishy didn't happen. I know you logged in to paypal but It won't hurt to check on the phone. I have received similar requests in emails but ignored them.

Did you check to make sure your login to paypal was through their secure connection? I too have been using Paypal for a long time with a LOT of transactions and have never had to reset anything. Better check it out to be safe so that you don't end up wtih no Paypal money and no money in your business account either!

I'll second (third, fourth?) all of the cautions above. In over a decade of using PayPal, I've never had to resubmit my financial info, and never had my account "reset". I can't think of a single reason why this might have happened other than you were somehow redirected to something that only LOOKED like PayPal's website. Don't take any chances - call PayPal, and watch your accoutns and credit report *very* carefully.

I'll chime in here along with all the others... something sounds fishy. If Paypal was doing anything to "reset" your account, you would have gotten an email from them telling you about the changes, advising you how to proceed and then would have sent a confirmation back to you that they had received the changes.... my first instinct would have been to call or send any email effecting my account to Paypal's phishing site... I've had a couple of emails that were supposedly from Paypal, but were in fact a phishing expedition/fraud... Paypal will persue the matter.

I guess i will call them. Although, I have purchased a few things through my paypal account and the credit card that I re-entered works just fine and people get their payments and there has been no unauthorized activity on the card.

Pretty strange I guess.
