A few days ago I got an e-mail that looked like it was from PayPal. The e-mail indicated there was a dispute filed against me from a vendor. Knowing that I hadn't used PayPal for over 6 months except for vendor here. I didn't have any issues with anyone here. I didn't open the e-mail. I contacted PayPal. They had me send the e-mail to spoof@paypal.com. They just contacted me and said the e-mail is a phishing scam.
For one and all, go to https://www.paypal.com/fightphishing to learn about this scam.

I get about 6 of these a day. I also get them from someone spoofing e-bay and even banks that I don't have a credit card with. No real company will have you sign in from a link on an e-mail. They would tell you to go to their home page and sign in like you normally do.

I got one last night that was supposed to have been the IRS telling me they and completed my 2007 taxes and I had a refund of $2832.79. Would have been nice, but since I'm on SS and only worked part time for about 6 months in 2007 which grossed about $4500, I figured it to be a scam and dumped it.

I'm sure they catch a few people this way, but even though most of us were born at night, I seriously doubt it was last night.

Best thing to remember. PayPal will address you with your name in the email. If the email doesn't have your name in it, it is a scam. Send it to paypal at spoof@paypal.com also, ebay does the same. They will always use your user name in the emails. Their email is spoof@ebay.com. I send all my spoof emails to them. And now I get very few, if any.

I won $6000000 in a lottery that I didn't even enter. I figured that I was the luckiest guy in the world and sent them back an email telling them that I would be happy to come and pickup my check as the company that I work for has a few private planes and attack helicopters, I asked if I needed to bring my badge for ID, but I never heard back from them. I hope that they don't think that I don't want to meet with them and take care of this business.:)

Good one Johnnie, As a matter of fact, I won the European lottery a while back. Strange thing is, I forgot about it after I "deleted" the E-mail.[:0]:D

I get email telling me that I've won some major lottery from some part of the world at least once per week.
I get phishing emails even more frequently.
If they would learn to spell and to write using English grammar & diction, I might believe them.
But, probably not.
If Ed McMahon himself delivered the check, I'd still be suspicious.:D

I have gotten as many as 33 lottery winners in one day. The difference between this phishing e-mail and others is that the senders address was admin@paypal. The page had paypal's logo and looked very real. This is when you have to know what to look for to determine if it is a phishing scam.
Toolcrazy is right on with his info. If you have any doughts about the e-mail, DON'T OPEN IT. Send it to paypal, they will look into it.
