Scott,
This vise looks very similar in construction to their current POS pen vise. The two horizontal alignment pins have hex nuts on them just like the old one. Those work loose and affect accuracy.

So IMHO, Paul AIN'T GOT ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!! LMAO!!

For another $20 Paul's vise is a MUCH better investment. (Notice I said investment and not tool....)

Paul's vise is an investment in anyones ability to produce better products. Of course, I'm preaching to the choir, huh?[:)]

Weeelll, they keep trying. And mine is really not $20 more. I see they are asking $69 for theirs, plus what ever the shipping is, so maybe mine just became a better bargain[:D]

FWIW, when I got home from work today, a brand new vise from Paul was sitting on my doorstep. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I can already see that it is several levels of magnitude better than the Woodcraft one I've been using for the past 3 years. I seriously doubt that any commercially made vise is going to match the quality of Paul's - even the new model from WC.

WC lists the new vise at just a few cents short of $70. That does not include shipping -- I'm betting that the final cost will be within a few dollars of Paul's. Depending on where you live, the shipping costs may make Paul's even be cheaper.

... just my 2-cents worth.

Jim

We don't have a tongue in cheek smily or I would have used it. [:p]

I really don't think Paul has anything to worry about. Just trying to be a little silly.

You can have my Paul drill vice when you pry it from my cold dead fingers. [:p]

Plus I took my old WC one out to the desert and introduced it to a mini 14. [8D]

So, um just where do you live and your address. For that vice I bet I can help you out with that. It just won't be cold when I start prying. [:D]

I would REALLY like to be on the list for one of Pauls vices. My woodcrap pos is so bad I have to hold the jaws straight just to drill a hole. And it's NEW!!

Well guys and gals, all I can say is thanks. No better group of folks than here. Especially thanks to those who have waited well beyond what I would have expected any one to do. Merry Christmas to all, and thanks again. And let's hope my day job lets me play a little more in the very near future[:D]

Paul... I have your vise on my big Steel City drill press that I use for drilling the blanks and a "brand x" vise on my little benchtop drill press next to it and there is no flexing in your vise. I use the benchtop exclusively for squaring the glued up blanks and have had several blowouts with the "brand x" vise while running the pen mill... but never with yours. So I'd like to put my name on the list again for another of your vises for my squaring rig. Please let me know when and how much to send. Chris... a very satisfied customer.

steve, i am the same as you. foreeeeeeever, but one day , that day will come, will come, will come, it will wont it paul,[;)]

Here is another offering by PSI that looks good. Even though I'll wait for Paul's.

You have to be patient. There may be a hundred people ahead of us. Don't know, but these being hand made. It takes time. And he does work full time, plus. Far as I'm concerned, I will wait as long as it takes, I'm in no hurry. And I know for a fact, it will be worth the wait.
