If memory serves me right [little I'v got left] it is safe to pour PR over a hand-painted item as long as the paint is dry. Acrylic or oil base. But what about water base? My daughter draws a beautiful rose & she calls it 'tinkering'. I want her to paint one on a piece of Corian, then use it as an inset in a bottle stopper. Then pour PR over the top of it. The PR shouldn't soften the paint or cause a run should it? Seems to me I've seen pens with painted items on them. I imagine I'll have to sand the smooth surface of the Corian with a 220 or 320 to give the paint better adhesion. Thanks for any comments on this.

Try a trial piece to see if it will work. Take some of the paint put it on the material you are going to do this on. Mix a little PR and pore it on, see if it runs. That is what I would do if I were you.
