So as some of you may know, My father recently got his manufacturers license through the ATF so we can build our own brand. Anyway, we wanted to offer a duracoating service as well so we took a small area in our garage and turned it into a paint booth/finishing station.

I should mention that I am a certified Gunsmith.

We got it all complete and I started with my S&W 6906 .9mm. I am doing this in Desert Warrior Tan with HK Black accents. Here is what I got so far in the process....

1)Before
2)Complete breakdown
3)Degrease
4)Degreased and Aluminum Oxide Blasted
5)Mags Before
6)Paint Booth
7)Oven
8-13) Baking after coated and finished parts.

As always comments and critiques are welcome.

Well, It fires, ejects better than ever, and cycles like a precision built machine. It needs to be worked in a bit for racking manually as I dont like to file too much off the rails, I like it to do most of the work for me to get an exact fit.

I bet your all waiting for pictures huh?...

Pictures will be up by 8pm the latest.

By the way, oven cure for 1 hour, then 24hrs for assemble and there is a 2-4 week full elasticity curing stage in or to keep it from scuffing.

Dang I am impressed, I can't even get a good powder coat on a 50 cal casing.
Maybe I should come hang out at your place for a couple days and learn a thing or three. If I even thought of trying that on something as expensive as a gun I would have to poop a couple razor blades when it was over. even if it ended well.

Nice work Brian I used to work on weapons in the Air Force as Redhat before the Cops messed up the career field anyways good job and have a great week

I thoroughly enjoyed viewing your pictures! That is a really nice coating! Do you have to worry about coating surfaces that will mate up with other pieces, as in does it build up the surface? Very cool! I would enjoy seeing what he comes out with as his own brand. Thanks for showing!

Scott.

Scott, I do have to be careful. A good rule of thumb is to coat those parts with a single coat as I would do 3-4 for the visible parts. As far as our brand, we are doing mainly SBR's (short barreled rifles). We also have a prototype of a new product for tactical shotguns in the works. I cant say what it is yet until the provisional patent goes through, but I will say it is cool and very practical.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask, I am happy to answer.

Brian,

How would something like that work for a revolver? I have an S&W .357 Magnum Highway Patrolman (K Frame). It could use a good going over as it was in a house fire (it wasn't touched).....pulled it out of the attic and checked it over and everything was good.....but, I wasn't thinking too straight at the time and put it in storage. When we moved back in later in the year, I went and check it out and.....yep, you guessed it......rust had hit it! It didn't even look wet when I checked it out.......

You can PM me if you'd like for any further info......

THANKS,

Barney

Nice... but it'd look better if it were a Sig.

Seriously, Brian, I have a slide that could use a new treatment. Sig P226, aluminum slide for .22LR. The factory coating looks like crap. I'd want simple black non-gloss. PM me with a quote when you can.

This thread wasn't supposed to be an advertisement but a chance to get the opinion of friends. Since there is interest, I will gladly answer any questions you may have. I will be accepting work orders soon after I post the finished Smith I have been working on. If any of you are as excited as I am, you will be glad to hear that I will post pictures by this evening of the complete 6906. I just have a little ceramic filing and final fit and finish work to do. Stay tuned for photos.
