I have asked alot of questions here and you all have been extremely helpful so I figured why not ask this one here as well.

Have a question about Outlook express.for those that use it. When i got my new computer which has Windows XP proffesional edition64 I tried using the outlook express email system. When I try to send messages I get an error message that states the servor name or number is wrong or something like that. How do you correct this and what is the servor number or name that is suppose to be setup??? How do you get to the setup page. Inquiring minds want to know and thanks for the help.

I also want to try to transfer my AOL account to this computer but do not know how to do that either. I had dial up service and have switched to DSL and boy what a difference. Finally was able to get it in my area. Long story there. Any help with this also would be appreciated. Thanks again.

John,

I can't answer your question specifically but will give you a few hints. You are used to the internet as an AOL user. AOL did everything for you in a simple way, but at the same time it controlled and limited your abilities in a way that you were not aware of and didn't need to be aware of. OE will bring everything under your control and you must be the one managing it, including all of the internet settings that deal with your ISP, your account and your computer.

Think of it like this this: AOL=Writing a check. OE=filling a two page application for a credit card. OE is technical and be prepared to following a detailed explanation. Your ISP should have a page online with detailed instructions, or possibly have given you a booklet with OE set up instructions.

Hi John,
I have had a couple of error messages lately. One was about the account name being incorrect. I called my server, which in my case is Frontier phone service, and the tech walked me through all of my outlook settings to make sure I had it all right. After I re-started mt computer, everything was fine. The second time was a diff message and he did what he could. It eventually worked. Point being, I would suggest calling your ISP to see if all of your settings are correct and be sure they haven't changed anything. Mine recently changed from @citlink.com to @frontiernet.net. That screwed up a lot of stuff.
Just my 2cents.
