Well... not really, but these readily available 'faux' sheets of design papers really go a long way towards replicating the real thing. This is an example of leopard skin. These sheets are readily available from the craft section from stores that carry scrapbook accessories. The thick paper is well suited for casting since it holds up well to both pressure and adhesion to double backed 2-way tape. It will expand your (design)casting to an endless level. Casting adhesive backed paper/labels was totally inspired by our very own BRobbins629. Thank you Bruce for moving me towards the casting addiction.

Great idea and very creative. I am planning to try something somewhat similar to your idea and would love any input you can share. I plan to have my two 4 year old grandsons write their names for me on a piece of heavy stock paper. I then want to cast that paper so I can create blanks for the artist pencils that I plan to make for them.

I figure that it will make the pencil more personal for them with their names on them and if they manage to keep it, it will become a keepsake for when they have children. That's the plan anyway.

I have never done any casting so I'm starting from the scratch. I am in the process of hunting down a pressure pot to use for the casting. All that said, I would certainly be open to the idea of someone else casting the blanks if I provided the materials and some kind of payment or swap some blanks etc. Any takers??????

Any input is welcome.

Jim, make sure that the paper is not too thick. If it is, it will be difficult to smoothly wrap it around brass tubes. What I find particularly effective is to use a pre-printed label(very thin material) with the name of the individual showing and a favourite logo (design) to go along. I recently did a Sierra for my son Joey, showing his name and the New York Jets logo cast side by side. He was thrilled getting something with his name and his favourite team. :)
