congrats and bless you for taking a resuce dog. lots of treats and pampering helps bring them around. Got to love the Eskies.

Thanks for taking another rescue. Adorable!

BTW, the dog in my avatar is a rescue also, one of the best dogs we've ever had.

My hat is off to you for taking on this challenge. The ones with problems are very hard to find a place for. Wish I was close to lend a hand, I am very good with working with traumatized animals. I have several cats and a few dogs over the years that I have rehabed. the most recent I want a little overboard with though. He is a Tom cat that was just a hare away from being completely Ferrel when I got him. 8 years later he is the most lovable cat I have had in years. begs to be petted and otherwise makes an annoyance of himself. When it comes to the dogs though, remember that you ahve there pack instinct working for you. they want and need that companionship and if you don't give them any reason to resist it they will eventually find their way to approach you. Pretty little fella, all my best and let us know how he progresses.

i have two dogs. the second one is a rescue boxer that weighs in at 105 lbs. Biggest boxer I have ever seen. My first dog trained him and he has turned out to be a great dog. Godbless for taking the poor soul and I bet he will turn out to be a great dog.

What a cute little dog!!

I'm in love already.

I have a cat like that......got her from the shelter and it took a year plus before she settled down; but well worth the efort.

I'm sure that little guy will be a treasured addition to your family!!

What a cutie. I'm sure once he realizes he is in a good place for the first time in his life he will teach you about unconditional love.

Hi everyone,

We have also 2 male dogs that we have rescued, just over a year ago. They were 2 years old each, one a Maltese and the other German short-hair Pointer. The little one is getting pretty close to us, from his own initiative, as he would hide on a corner and stay there for hours on end. The Pointer, is a total difference issue all together, the first owner had him to 18 months, he couldn't handle him so they said, the second couple come along and only took 6 months for them to have enough, them was us, and 12 months later I can say that what did traumatize this animal, where a series of accidents and events that we find out, but we only know half, and maybe never will know the full story, but as beautiful, intelligent and docile in the right circumstances, he still does't like to have his food in a dish and be taken to him, if you got in in your end, walking towards him, he simple runs away! Another one is with his toes, it does nor allow anyone to touch his toes, and if you try, he simple bites. Clipping is toe nails, and unfortunatelly, not having hard surfaces like cement or pavings for him to file them naturally, they really grow very long and sharp, ripping one apart every ofter, making him very protective of his feet. A trip to the vet for nail clipping, involves a $120 needle to put him to sleep while the vet trims then out! plus the $45 for the clipping...! All because when he was young he cut his pow very badly involving surgery and treatments of the value of $900

But you now, our last 12 year old great_dane pet dog, dyed of cancer a few months before we got these 2, in the last 8 days alone of his life, he spent $2.000 to try to save him, but in the end, he died in the operation table, leaving us with a broken heart and some difficult vet bill to pay, but we don't regret a single cent spent with him, we was our own company, and the best loyal friend anyone can ever have.

Is difficult sometimes to take a animal home that has issues, most of the times, not a their fault but, a traumatized and miss-treated animal, requires lots of attention and time, but sooner or later, thee animal will understand he/she is most loved and looked after, and as far as I can tell with animals, you will get back twice as much as what you give!

Good luck with him, your other dogs hopefully will assist you with the task!

Cheers
George

My wife and I have 2 dogs. The first we got as a puppy and the second was a rescue. While there were some issues we had to deal with, I'm sure it was nothing like you'll have to deal with.

There's a special place in hell reserved for people who abuse animals like that. If you're just going to abuse the animal, why take on the responsibility?

thanks to all for sending him good thoughts & kindness..rescue/adoption is the only way we have gottne dogs & cats for 60 yrs..we are honored by their eventual trust in us..the teaching they give to us..little Bear has made a small breakthru..he would not come out of his travel crate for two days..would not look at us or the other dogs..but the other dogs knew the medicine he needed..they'd walk by and wag their tails and then leave him be...I had his crate near the door which was open for the dogs to come & go as they pleased..I saw him sneak out with the other dogs and my heart burst with joy..hours later he came back in the house after watching me do outside chores..he follows me around now 5 days later, but scoots when he thinks I'm coming his way..One step at a time..he wants us to love him but just can't pull it off yet..we can wait..when he does come around it will be us that are blessed..he deserved much better than he has gotten...keep sending him good stuff

hey Bad..shouldn't your name be "good"???

This is awesome!!

I am happy to see the number of people here that also deal with rescue. My wife and I have been doing Chinese Shar Pei Rescue for over 15 years. We got our first Shar Pei in 1991 and have been sold on the breed since then.

We (I should say she) have a rescue site that covers mostly Shar Pei but many others. www.sharpeirescuenetwork.org

Check it out and keep giving those rescues love!!

Good luck with your new addition and good luck to all you that give that wonderful dog a new chance at life!!!

Hoping your new friend settles in and gets to know the love in your home.
It's obvious that he is going to be well cared for and much loved.

I believe this is true and I'm hoping everything they have done to a defenseless animal, will be done to them ten fold burning in hell!!!!!!!! It's hard for us to understand but some people are just plain mean!!!!!

I just dropped a stray off at the local shelter. It had looked like it had been abused. He was a very quiet dog. Thought about keeping him but I didn't have the $135 to get him fixed. The shelter said they would try to locate the owner for 3 days then put him up for adoption. I hope everything works out for him and he finds an owner that will take care of him.

thanks all for your support with little bear and all my rescued dogs..they need people to care , and to care for them..Bear had a breakthru today..when I was on floor snuggling up my first 3, he rushed over, licked my hand and then scooted..later, we all piled in the car to do errands, and he jumped in with the pack...now we are getting somewhere!!!! 4 dogs & 2 people in a Corolla..quite a sight!!!
