This is a trim line pen that I modified to eliminate the center band. It opens by twisting the tip. The woods are red heart and cross-cut black palm. I wanted to show the palm end grain. The palm was unstabalized and the practice blank chipped out. The technique I used to prevent chipout was a square tip carbide chisel, tool rest raised, scraping at a steep angle.
Hope you like it!

Beautiful !!!!!

I use Palm for trim rings/endcaps; they are fussy! You did well for your pen!

I love seeing stuff like this:

Modifications
- excellent.
Combination of Redheart and Black Palm - Excellent.
Overall appearance - Wonderful.

Whoo Hooo! That is a pen I like seeing.

Yes, I DO like it !!!

VERY well done !!!

I love the black palm replacement for the centerband .... the end grain is very eye-catching !!!

Looks great! I really like the black palm end grain. I need to remember that use. Also like that the red heart has some character. Nice work.

Thank you all for the likes and encouragement. I feel like my pile of lathe failures is bigger than my successes lately, so it feels good to get a win this week.
