Well after working all day and playing a round of frisbee golf, I decided to make myself a pen. The blank was ready to turn. It was a BOW cigar. Turned both ends between centers and finished it with 10 coats of CA. Went to put it together, and I'll be damned, I turned it backwards:mad: The longer part was now the finial end. The shorter end was now the tip. My brain just wasn't functioning. The heat must of fried my brain cells.

:biggrin:I too have turned the tubes for the wrong ends. However I just made new parts to make the pen work.

Sorry, I lost interest after you played the disc golf. How was your round?

The classic cigar pen mistake - you haven't made many cigar pens if you haven't made this mistake yet.

Well I shot 8 over. Tripled the last hole as I blew my drive into the trees. Just barely beat the rain. I've made a lot of Cigar's and usually mark the finial end so I wouldn't do this. But didn't this time and now have a gorgeous BOW cigar that's for looks only. Can't tell it's backwards until you put the refill in.

dude, I can beat that, I did TWO of those in a row once. the blanks are still somewhere in the bottom drawer of my rollaway somewhere, buried under all the other oops's :)

Bogeys on the last hole, that messes up a good round every time. A birdie on the last hole can turn a lousy round into a good one.:)

I was in charge of pen turning for our local AAW chapter and we had a PR blank making demo. I forgot about bringing our sample blanks back to show at the next meeting. I got home from work and rushed through a quick cigar pen in a hurry to get to the meeting in time. It looked great until I tried to retract the nib - it poked out farther instead of retracting. That show and tell was embarrassing!

That's exactly what happenned to me. The nib was perfectly out. Then I turned it to retract, and Blam it went out further. Was pretty mad at that point.

A birdie on the last hole makes for ANOTHER ROUND!!!

bummer on the cigar but at least you got to hit the chains today! just keep it as a desk pen, That's what i did with mine just like yours!!! In fact, did you say it was a BOW pen? that is what mine was. I was peeeeesed
