One of the great benefits of my job is ...that as a youth pastor, I get to take my teens on trips that are spiritually focused but also lots of fun.
We (me and my wife, another couple, and 17 seniors from our Christian school) left Charleston, SC this morning and travelled to Harrisburg, PA. We will be going to HersheyPark tomorrow. Saturday brings along Philadelphia and all of the historical sights. Sunday is a rest day with church and The King of Prussia Mall in the afternoon. Monday is a quick venture up the coast to good old NYC to see Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, Empire State Building, Central Park, and of course Times Square. Tuesday is a travel day to DC that ends at a Nationals game. Wednesday through Friday brings Arlington, National Zoo, Archives, Smithsonian, The Holocaust Museum, a Marine Corp Band Concert, Capitol Tour, and of course a meeting with Senator Jim DeMint and Congressman Henry Brown. Whether you like their policies or not, that's ok. I happen to have met Congressman Brown on many occasions and and super excited to meet Jim DeMint. AND OF COURSE, I brought along a pen to give to each of them. Senator DeMint is a fan of fountains so I made him a 10KTI JR Gent fountain in beautiful curly Afzalia. Congressman Brown is getting a 10KTI Jr Gent rollerball in stained curly maple. (I also brought along some extras with some business cards!!)
Anyway, I know that many of you are Christians, as I am, and I would sincerely appreciate your prayers for us as we enjoy this trip.
Thanks, Dennis
