Great find!!
Now that you have 2 Draw Knives, you will need to make a shaving Horse. Then you can use the plane to finish the stock for the horse.
Take some pictures of what else you get, and KEEP it all, duplicates could be used for trading. Go easy on the cleaning of the plane to preserve the patina. These items and other things you may recieve are a part of history that needs to be preserved.

O.K. here are two more things I got last night after I took the first pic.A clamp of some sort, the way it works is really cool, but it looks like it was made for a specific purpose? And a hand saw with really big teeth. It looks like the saw is made for cutting ice?Not sure.Getting some more stuff later today.

Ronald,

Very nice. The clamp is a panel clamp.

Thanks man.I have been into woodworking since I was 15 and have never seen a clamp like it.I am familiar with some of the older tools but not many.I will post a pic later of a big woodworking vise I got also.

Here is the vise I got.The handle is missing. It is extremely heavy.Works o.k. needs a little tlc.On the front it says The Desmond Stephen Mfg Co.Urbana Ohio.Unlike my new one that says made in Taiwan.

Nice haul. A drawknife is always handy to have around. The plane might have some collectors value, don't do any restoration until you check it out. Clamps....can't have too many. Old stuff is fun.

The shop I work in has over 50 brand new expensive Bessy K-clamps and a dozen old school I-beam style bar clamps.

I HAVE to use the K-clamps for shop-related work because they get offended if I use the old ones (don't ask... my supervisor is a weirdo).

However, for my OWN PERSONAL work I ALWAYS use the old bar clamps. They are BY FAR SUPERIOR to the new K-clamps. Much stronger, much much stronger.

Now as for planing, lol, I'll use that 22" Powermatic planer any day over a hand planer, but it IS a sweet collector's item.

I live just south of Urbana, Oh. I believe that company is still in existence today.

It is listed in my new phone directory.
317 S. Walnut St.
Urbana, Oh 43078
Phone: 937-653-7181

I wonder when that vise was made. A phone call to the company might be worth getting a little history on your great find.
