I had a chance to see Roy (Oklahoman), his wife, and and his pen display out at an Arts Festival this weekend. His display was great. Twice I've been able to seem him and his wife out there and each time I'm very impressed at how they've got their display set up. I was able to take note of their customer service this time. From what I could tell everyone that came by got direct eye contact from Roy or his wife and some sort of acknowledgement. It's neat to see things that they do that I'd never thought about when it comes to selling pens. They really run a tight ship when it comes to their pen business.

I think the thing that may impress me the most is even with all the pens Roy makes and has for sell, he has not sacrificed quality in order to produce quantity. Something to aspire to that's for sure.

Les, Thank you for your praise, Dee and I have worked hard trying to perfect our show displays and I think we've finally hit 75% of perfection. Yes eye contact and acknowledgment is part of being a salesman, you must put the customer at ease. Asking simple questions will give you an idea of the potential sale, thinks like "do you write with a Roller ball or a Fountain pen?", or "that's a beautiful bracelet", your now telling them they have great taste. I'd say up to 90% of our show sales are to people who never thought of buying a pen, especially a pen that cost $100 or more.
