It's interesting stuff. The photo's are way too small to possibly identify. I can only throw out the first pen as possibly being mahogany, which is a carving favorite. I do like the second photo, wish it was bigger. I do have relief carving experience.
 
I'm not sure if this is same company, but a few years back, I saw a book where a company in the WA/OR area did relief carvings out of burls.... this was before or just about the time I was getting into wood turnings so I didn't note the name of the company. Really nice stuff here.
 
I actually had a piece of Zebrawood that had a couple of eyes. I thought, hmmm, that is interesting. Haven't seen a piece like those pens had, but I will keep the eyeballs peeled.
