I went out for lunch today and needed to go to my bank. The route to get there is under construction, down to one lane each way. I'm still not to the sad part. As I'm driving, what do I see? Cut down trees in nice 18" lengths. Walnut, Ash, Oak, Maple. Here is the sad part. There is no place to stop and pick any of it up.:( There is probably 3-4 pickup loads sitting there, with no anchorseal, waiting for someone to probably pick up and take to the dump. Oh, the inhumanity.

Chris,

Your priorities need adjusting.

Just park the car in the middle of the lane and fetch the wood. All those folks yelling at you, just acknowledge them, pleasantly, and hope they don't have GUNS!

Chris .... Chris ... Chris ..... you're about to have your IAP membership card lifted. Be resourceful ... creative .. think outside the box. You need to find a way to get some of that wood. Now, quit belly aching and get busy!

What you do is... Slam on the brakes and get rear ended. You get to sue them.. And while your waiting for the police to show up to file a report.. You load up your truck with the wood... See simple....LOL

This COULD work, Chris.

Even if it doesn't, our attys Hangem, High and Gettum, should be able to find a few bucks in it for you. (I think Hangem LIVES in Northbrook, come to think of it!)[:D][:D][:D][:D]

Are you certain about the name of that firm? I thought it was Dewey, Cheatum and Howe.

With all that construction and the debris it leaves on the road, it could easily be a place to, uh, "inconveniently" have a flat tire!!

Considering what I do for a living, I don't think Insurance Fraud would be a good career move.

How about finding out what dump they're headed to, and meeting them there upon delivery? In my county, we have one area where all the bigger pieces of trees can be found.

We're not letting this go Chris. It's as simple as this ... Get The Wood!

I saw the picture on your website of you standing on the roof of the Habitat House (a great cause) ..... hands on your hips with a take charge look on your face ..... you have this air of authority about you. Just pull your pickup alongside that wood. Put on the flashers. Walk right up to that pile of wood and start loading it. If a cop pulls up ... just act business like and as though you belong there. If he gives you any grief just put one of those surprised looks on your face .... "I'm just doin' my job" kind of look. If he orders you to move on ..... just tell him to back off .... and let him know you're a friend of Fangar's.
We'll back you on this. Your friends in IAP will raise money for your bail.

methinks the sad part is not stopping for a quick one or two pieces!!
You could pass through several time and snag a few! [:p]

Jim, I know guys who frequent the "recycling center" for that very purpose. He made some very nice hollow vessels from AMBROSIA MAPLE he got there!!!

Take a nice piece of cedar to sniff on while you wait there, tho! [;)]
