I'd like to share a gift that recently came my way and at a very opportune time. A fellow member here has provided me with my first Baron fountain pen kit that I recently finished as a gift to myself. To day is my b-day and this just makes it oh so complete. I greatly enjoy writing with 'ink' and its been awhile since I've indulged in this small passion since the computer is so dominant in my day to day correspondence. There is something so special about fountain pens but more so when you have been instrumental in creating it. Treat yourself and experience the art of writing as can only be made possible with a FP. Thanks for dropping in.

Happy Birthday Peter!

I started to use a fountain pen about a year ago after having sold many and not been able to appreciate the quality and fun of writing with one.

That was all enhanced to another level when I bought some of Anthony's nibs....I write more notes at work, send more hand written letters and enjoy it as you have also dsicovered!

Enjoy the day

Peter,
I appreciate your sentiment about writing and want to wish you a happy birthday. Unfortunately, my hand writing looks like chicken scratch, but I may treat myself to a fountain pen some day too.

BTW, what wood is that? It kind of looks like partridgewood / black sucupira.

Happy Birthday Peter!

You did a great job on your first fountain pen! Along with the suggestions for one of Anthony's nibs, I'd also suggest trying some really good ink. It will really make a noticable difference; that kit ink is marginal at best. I enjoy using Private Reserve ink, fwiw.

Hope you have a happy birthday and are treated well on your special day! [:)][:)]

I've been trying to brush up on my ability to identify wood, since I see other members so easily taking a look at a piece of wood and knowing what it is... So I'm going to take a stab here and guess that the wood might be... mopane? [:D][:D]

Thanks to all for the well wishes. It's been a great day and will only get better tomorrow and the day after...

Angela, I'm amazed at your ability to recognize the 'mopane'. Must be all those psychic powers of yours.[;)]
