Ok, I am having to move all my wood piles to start reconstruction on part of the house. To move these things I decided I should probably start cutting some of it and stacking it carefully, moving the smaller cuts into the house... Of course some of these the only way to move them is to cut them, like this maple trunk/stump(it took 4 of us to retrieve it and "roll" it into the back yard).

Well I was cutting 3 logs of sweet gum, at least I think thats what it was, besides the normal blackline spalting these things had orange spalting that ran to brown. Has anyone ever seen this sort of thing?

Nice looking spalting.

Yes, I've seen orange, umber, brown, black, green, blue, etc spalt lines. Most change over time after exposure and curing though to almost black. Some even have multiple colors...even the wood between the spalt lines can have different shades of brown.
