At least that is what they are calling it around here. We lived through it but it was trying for me at times.
The winds got pretty strong last night. Gusts near hurricane strength (71 mph). I was laying in bed watching the football game last night when I heard a pop and crack and then the power went out. :at-wits-end: Crap!! No more football game.
Anyway, I went to bed and got up at 5:30 and since power was not restored, I tried for 45 min to get my generator running. It has run about 3 times in 8 years. I guess that is a good thing though. Finally got it running. Only had 1 gallon of gas in the shed so I set out to get some more somewhere.
Well, I was held hostage in my own neighborhood!! I couldn't get out of the neighborhood due to a downed power line across the entrance/exit. Poor design with only one way in and one way out..... Now what was I going to do to keep the generator running? That's right, siphon gas from one of the vehicles. If anyone has tried to do this with new vehicles, it is all but impossible due to the construction. I had to disconnect some lines under the vehicle to get some gas!!
Well, power came back on and the generator ran all day. 23 hours without power is not tough when you have a generator but it is when there is no cable or internet!!! :at-wits-end: Now I am trying to get my fill. Too much withdrawl from IAP.
Hopefully you all faired fine with this storm. It is the worst we have seen in some time. It nearly matched some record storms and seeing the pictures on TV makes me wonder what some people are thinking.....
