i don't know if any of you will have even the most remote interest in this, but i figured i'd post it anyway.

the LOML and i were making some programs for our wedding and seeing the stack of lefover paper, she said, 'that would make a great notepad.' the light went off in my head and i found out how easy they are to make. i just used an old pen blank vise i made and bought some nice glue and, walla, notepad.

i just thought it might be a good thing for penturners, seeing as most of us have way too many pens and not enough things to write on. and of course, they're easy to customize and make nice looking.

if, in fact, anyone is interested in any more details, let me know and i'll be happy to post them!

bob,

from what i understand, "padding glue" is what is used commercially and the kind you want to get. other than online, i couldn't find anything specifically called 'padding glue' so i went to Michael's and bought this stuff called Aleene's tacky glue.

http://www.aleenes.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=0ec308f9-71a4-4fd0-b4df-b4bbf7b42152

i bought it because it claimed to dry clear and flexible, which it did and it seems just like the binding on any other notepad i've ever used. also, i bought the one with the built in brush as you need a brush anyway to apply it to the spine of the paper/cardboard backing.

I've got one of those commercial grade plier type staplers. About once a month I get a package of junk coupons and ads in the mail that are a very convenient size.....5-1/2"x8" and are only printed on one side. A couple of three staples and I have a nice shop pad for the next month until the another supply arrives in the mail. Probably not as professional looking as Andrew's; but good enouigh for government work !!

randy, mine are far from professional looking! [;)]

all i did was make a page on MS word with a bunch of ___________'s on it since i can't write straight without lines [:D]

i'm glad to hear others are doing it. it's a great use of scrap paper...

<br />Hi,

Regular rubber glue will do the job as well.

Alfred

I agree. When I was in High School (a long, long time ago)I worked in the print shop and we used to use rubber cement for making pads. The padding glue will work much better if you can find it but rubber cement will do an acceptable job.
