This is the case that the pictures look better than the real thing.

I am happy the process of making and casting veneer inlay blank is improving.

The two things to improve are: (1) bubbles are forming at the joints in the laying design (not the joints I create between the inlay and white dyed maple burl), (2) to "lift" the dyed color after casting.

The first two pictures are before casting, the last two cast/turned/polished.

Anyway I really this diamond shape on the inlay.

Oh well this blank is going into the "not yet for the prime time" vault.

Thanks for looking.

That looks sweet.

Have you tried soaking the veneer in thin CA to seal up whatever glue/voids are causing your bubbles?

Don,

Yes, I am planning to "seal it" with couple a coats of thin CA, then a few coats of medium CA for good measure. Sort of like CA finish without polishing.

I have a set cigar tubes with the veneer inlay ready to glue. Have to wait for the white maple burl veneer is ready first.

Will post the cigar, if everything turns out OK.
