This definitely is not the norm for South Louisiana, 6'' of snow and for the first time in recorded history, a blizzard warning for Southwest Louisiana. The photo of our chimney with ice hanging off of it is really off the wall, we have had a roaring fire going in our wood burning stove for the last 3 days and nights. The low for last night was 7 degrees. I'm done with winter, bring on the heat wave!!!

Yeah, it was 6 or 7 degrees here in Albuquerque yesterday morning. Almost never gets that cold here. My shop was 47 degrees this morning about 10:00. It took a couple hours to get it up to about 60 with my little propane heater.
And then my wife came home from shopping and opened the door in the other bay. It cooled it off a little, but not too bad.

I woke up to -15 today and yesterday was a bit colder. Last year at this time we had a week of -40. The top layer in our water cistern froze and I had to break it up to get the water to flow. I think next week we warm up to the mid 20's...above zero. At least plowing the snow is better living on the plains versus living in the mountains. This year we've probably only gotten around 10" of now vs. over 6' when we lived in the Rockies. Plus I don't have to put chains on the plow like I used to.

Yeah, Albuquerque weather is pretty nice most of the year. Almost never have a day it does not make it above freezing in winter or above 100 in the summer. The wind does blow in the spring, and can get old. It is breezy today and high was 35. Our house faces south, so if it does snow, it is usually gone from the front by afternoon. It's rare for it to hang around more than a few days even on the north side.
And no hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes or floods. We live on the west mesa at almost 5290' elevation.

You have more snow than we have here in Wisconsin. It has been bitter cold here this week but other than about an inch of snow that we got last night our ground has been bare since just after Christmas.

Will Rogers said that people complain about the weather but don't do anything about it.
Lived in LA for six years and only remember one snow of three inches in Shreveport.
