Found this Pentel mechanical pencil laying around, decided to mess around with it a bit. It's missing the chrome cap, but there might be another one kicking around here somewhere. Anyways I like the way it turned out. I put in an ebony center piece simply because I didn't have a drill bit long enough and had to drill it in sections. The tip required a small tenon. I used stabilized wood because the barrel is pretty thin. All the turning was simply between centers with a 60° dead and live center. Finish is pens plus. I didn't want any CA build up in the very small groove where the clip is. Comments always welcome. Yellow piece is original.

Nicely done. I really like making the pentel conversion. Turn the blank round then drill as far as you can. Turn the blank around and finish drilling. The two bores should meet. I have placed an article in the library in the pencils folder. It has a clever way of treating the tip end.😉
Do a good turn daily!

I knew you had a method posted. The way I did it, I couldn't drill all the way through with the larger drill bit. The way I did it, the threaded tip holds everything together. I didn't use tubes at all.
