The North Texas Patriot Guard Riders, have been asked to DFW airport this morning, to assist the American Airlines VMERG (Veteran Military Employee Resource Group) on the Flight Operations ramp planeside, Providing Honor & Respect to Vietnam War Hero , U.S. Army, CWO Donald Wann, Cobra Gunship crew member. Sending him home. CWO was KIA in 1971. His remains recently found.
This is truly an honor.

Good luck Steve,

Truely an honor is right! Maybe after I retire I can affiliate with an organization that contributes as much as they do!

Always glad to hear another hero returning home. Long awaited, Rest now in peace Brother!

I wonder if anybody out there has one of his bracelets and if so how they would find out he was coming home and where to send it. I've still got one from when I was in A school packed away somewhere. I wonder if there is somewhere I could go to check status for POW/MIA's ? May need to look into that.

Back home! This was a very uplifting mission. CWO Donald Wann's daugther, was there to fly back to Tulsa with him, to finally be laid to rest. Great stuff. We had the privilage of standing an honor line as his coffin was loaded on the airplane. It was somehow appropriate that it started a light sprinkle of rain as the coffin was loaded on the ramp to the cargo hold of the aircraft. The rain stopped when the coffin was inside the cargo hold. Just can't make this stuff up. God Bless and protect our Troops and their families. Thank you Father for bringing one of ours back home.

Thank you all for the comments, it is the pleasure and honor of all the Patriot Guard Rider's to "Stand for those who stood for us"

Fred, look at http://www.patriotguard.org it is the national site. There you will be able to find a local chapter you can ride in. You don't need to wait for retirement. We have several active duty riders in the North Texas chapter. It is pretty easy, just find your local chapter, show up for a mission and go home. Other than a release needed on your first mission, nothing to sign, nothing to buy and no minimum attendence is required (you don't even have to have a motorcycle). But, after the first one you will do many!!! If you have any questions, just ask!

Oh, one more thing. If you can locate a DVD titled "Taking Chance", please watch it. This is a true story of a soldier's last journey and the escort assigned to it. This is a good story for all of the family.
