No Catalyst

So I picked up my first batch of Resin at Michaels with their 50% coupon but they were out of catalyst. Is there a way of getting just the catalyst or is there something I can use instead? Michaels can't tell me when they will get some more in. I also picked up the Pearl-X series 2 (last one left) as well. And just for the heck of it I went to Hobby Lobby to look for catalyst. They didn't have any but I did pick up some Aluminite while there. So I will be having some fun as soon as I can figure out this catalyst thing.

Try your local auto parts store , MEKP is used for fiberglass resin and most places carry the little tubes of it , just make sure it's the liquid not the gel/cream type .

I would say check with your local surfboard supply house but I don't think there are many surfers there. :biggrin:

i have bought it at wal-mart in automotive also at home depot in the paint dept. hope this helps, ron.

Just make sure it's MEK"P". Methyl Ethel Ketone "Peroxide" is completely different from Methyl Ethel Ketone. They do not interchange.
