At it again since the snow won't let me get outside at all today. These are my two latest creations. I like coming up with weird names for my blanks so the red, black, and green I'm calling "Black Widow Venom". Haven't thought of one for the Black, Blue, Green yet. On the Black Widow the green I added a little glow in the dark additive I found at hobby lobby, but I think it messed with the bond between the resin and color bc I tried to turn a sierra and it blew up and the green areas didn't feel quite like the others, kinda softer. If anyone has any ideas feel free to chime in. Hope yall like them and as always any comments/questions appreciated!

Here is the finished product of my latest blank. I'm very happy with the way it came out. I like this mix of colors.

Alright well I was able to turn a seirra out of my "black widow" blank and all I can say are three things...1- WOW 2- I need a different name 3- I need to make another batch WITHOUT that crappy glow stuff. I'll let the pics speak for themselves. Awesome effect with the light!

The colors look great!
I wonder (from the way the resin warps) if that glow additive is
compatible? Have you tried it outside of a blank? (leftover/scrap etc)
I've tried some myself and it can be tricky.. I haven't gotten it down
yet. I think the glow powders might work better for you than any
liquid, but the powders are HARD! It eats chisels.
If you want to stay with the Black Widow name, how about gently
inserting the red resin with one of those disposable glue syringes?
That should help you get placement where you want it.. but timing
might be tricky. I think you'd want the black to start setting up
before the red, so it doesn't blend before it cures.

Now I want to go to the shop and try..

I agree that powder is probably the way to go. This liquid messed with the resin in ways i can't explain. For instance, I'm using the exact same acid green mica powder (as well as the same amount) in BOTH blanks. There is no sheen or pearl effect in the red blank at all, it dumbed it down so much plus turning it was a chore. Kinda like turning unstabilized wood. I won't be using this stuff again and will keep researching the best route with glow in the dark stuff. Thanks for the advice with the syringe. I've actually been talking about doing exactly that with my fiance only with a different application in mind. Gotta do some serious planning and thinking two steps ahead with this though. BTW i'm sooooo hoping that I win your resin saver molds in this years donation drawing! We've already been saving up to buy a couple we just can't decide what kits we would want.

I've used glowinc.com for powders. I know there's some others too.
The finer powders blend better, but the glow doesn't last as long.
Fingers crossed on the molds!
