I've only been watching NYW for about 3 years now, but I credit it to getting me started in wood working. I always loved tools, but when I graduated college and was in my apartment with my new bride, watching Norm on rabbit ears on saturday mornings was the friggin' highlight of my week!! In fact, I was so itching to build stuff watching that show that I set up all my power tools on my apartment's covered balcony (sucked when it rained). I needed a project I could do that was quiet enough and small enough to do on my balcony, hence my first mini-lathe purchase with a starter pen kit. And the rest is history. So if there hadn't been this unique set of circumstances which most importantly included my lack of cable and discovering the New Yankee Workshop, I quite possibly would not be the penmaker I am today. I'm deeply upset he won't be recording any new shows. I just hope that there will be someone new to take his place in the tv woodworking world, though I know no one can quite fill those shoes.
