Hi my name is Wendy I run a woodshop for adults with disabilities and brain injuries to teach them vocational skills. I only learned about pen turning a couple of years ago but was excited to teach this skill to my students to enable them to have a beautiful high end product after only a few steps. They are very proud, as am I, of thier work and its a wonderful craft that give people of all ages and abilites a chance to shine. ~Wendy

Wendy, welcome from Georgia. Your work must be very rewarding. I can only imagine the looks on their faces when they have completed a pen and how very proud they must be of their project. Giving your students the ability to accomplish such a project has to make them feel super. Keep up your great work. This site should give you lots of ideas for your students.

Welcome, Wendy. Thank you for being one of those special people who brings joy to the disabled. Save some time for YOU to enjoy this great pastime, too! Russ

Welcome from Oklahoma. We're planning a trip in November to see the kids and would be interested in seeing your "setup". Awesome that you're working with people with disabilities.

Welcome, Wendy! I wish that you lived on my island, Camano Island, WA. I have Multiple Sclerosis. All my lesions are in my brain. I went from being "Radar O'Reilly" in my "past" life, to "Homer Simpson" in my present life. I would not change anything but would love to be in your class. Hey, if you ever want to take a vacation to the West/Best Coast, I have a friend with a rental home here on the island (sleeps 6!)

Anyway, I have a true appreciation for what you do. Thank you for sharing your talents! So glad to have you on IAP!

Sincerely,
Maria
