Hi,
I recently got started in turning. I have tried a few pens and that seems like a good way to make several examples and possibly develop some skills.
I have not explored this site very much, but I learned about it from a few youtube videos so I will spend some time here.

Regards
tom

Welcome from California. Be sure to check out the IAP Library under the Resources tab above. There are a lot of great tutorials.

Welcome Tom from the UK.

Be warned it's kind of addictive but then again aren't most hobbies and unlike golf you don't lose your balls !

Hi Tom and greetings from Nebraska! Welcome to the IAP community. I learned a lot from YouTube videos when I was starting as well. There are a lot of excellent channels out there. My favorites have been Bob Blanford (RJB WoodTurner) and Lynn Lacey (LL Woodworks). I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing pictures of some of your pens. - Dave

Welcome, Tom. There are 3-4 really good turning clubs in the DFW metroplex. I highly recommend you join one. The closest to you is probably Wood Turners of West Texas. They meet in east Ft Worth the last Thursday of every month. Here is their website: http://www.wntx.org . I drive over from Abilene to the meetings when I can.
