New to IAP and just recently started the pen turning hobby as a way to get away from the demands of being a graduate school faculty member. I've learned a lot from postings, not only here, but elsewhere, and really enjoy the new hobby. As a pen geek, with a number of Waterman, Du Pont and Montblanc pens, the turning hobby was a natural choice

I've not sold much yet, mostly due to a broken camera. Most of my work has been for retirement gifts and such and getting to know the different types of pens, woods, and materials. However, I did create the attached fountain pen made from certified Olive Wood from PSI. The image is not great since it is from the phone, but hopefully you can see the image in the grain.

Enjoy.

And, another welcome from Wichita Falls, TX. I know you will find your time here quite beneficial to your pen making. Heck, just ask and we may be able to help out with your professoring:biggrin::biggrin:.

Would you share your thoughts on why alternating layers of CA and friction polish?

Do a good turn daily!

Don,

Actually viewed an online video on the technique. Seems to work pretty well. I am so new to this, that I am trying different approaches. I actually like this approach because it seems to produce a harder finish.
