I am going to be casting some small mosaics glued to brass tubes and want to cast them in clear resin. I have never cast anything before and don't have a pressure pot yet. If I happen to love doing this and want to make an investment in equipment, I will, but what I really want now is just to make this particular set of blanks.

So I have two questions: what should I use to glue the mosaic tiles (a natural material, not man made), and should I use PR?

I have molds on their way and my mosaic material is sitting at the Post Office waiting for me to pick it up. I am just not 100% sure if PR is going to be the best option for me.

Any recommendations would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

As mentioned use Silmar 41 polyester casting resin is the way to go. Just be aware that it produces quite an odor.

That's great, thank you for the feedback. I did a bit of research and it looked to me like the Silmar 41 would be the best choice, but I wanted a little confirmation. Apparently the Alumilite clear really requires a pressure pot.

Cheers
