I've been wanting to do casting for awhile, now; somewhat ironic, considering how much I hate turning plastic

anyway, I got some of the silmar goop and various mica powders for my birthday, and ordered this mold from a guy on here. The smell just about knocked me over, but whatever. I mixed up a cup of blue and a cup of red, poured them together and there it was. It's setting up right now on my porch.

You can't really see much of the red, it sorta settled to the bottom.

Anyway, I'll show you how it comes out. It's not sticking to the mold or anything and is holding its shape so far. I may end up selling these if they are well received, haha.

Cheers, hope you enjoy.

PS: DON'T mix in red solo cups. The silmar eats at the sides (mine got preeeeeety thin ) I will need to find some new craft cups

I use the clear solo cups with silmar and they hold up alright. I'm not sure when you poured the colors but if you wait until it just starts to gel and then pour them you can swirl them around with a popsicle stick for a different effect. There are lots of methods, thats just one of my favorites!

Did you use a pressue pot or vacuum? Nice first outing! Be well............Jan

I use 16 oz paper cups that I buy from Sam's Club. I have a "master" that is marked with differing measures--4, 6, 8, 12 oz. I can transfer them to my "user" cups with a ruler and a Sharpie. Might want to give that a try...if you know you'll be casting a lot. One package contains something like 70 cups.
