New pencil lead type?

I received this interesting pen/pencil as a gift from a company I buy a lot of stuff from. It is a dual bolt action.
Pen on one side, pencil on the other. The noteworthy aspect is the pencil tip. The company claims 1.46mm of
wear after writing 600 meters. Screw in replacement leads. I just started using it today, was thinking the lead
might be too hard, but I have to admit it is usable.

These have been around for a few years. I haven't tried one, but should.
