Good Morning
I'm a fife maker from Connecticut who has been making pens over the last several years from left overs from the fife making process. I use mainly African Blackwood, Mopane, Cocobolo and Pink Ivory. I stated turning pens because I hatred to waste the exotic leftovers. I turn the fifes and pens on a 1941 South Bend metal lathe using carbide tooling. My fifes are bored to 0.42375" (7/16) and I have recently discovered that I can make the Le Grande and Churchill pen out of a rejected fife blank since these pens use a slightly larger bore. Probably have accumulated enough African Blackwood bored blanks over the years to make about 150 of these pens
