Hi, I seem to have been a member for quite a long time without realising that I could introduce myself. So here goes

I have been turning pens for nearly two years and have built up a large stock having run out of friends and family to present as gifts - we've all been there right? Anyway I am now looking to branch out and sell my work although seems to be harder than I thought. Any ideas?

On a completely different note I have been trying to source a magazine dedicated to pen making and have drawn a blank in the UK. Are there any good magazines available that would ship to the UK?

Looking forward to responses

Phil

Welcome, Phil, though actually you have been a member longer than I have.

This is the right place to get ideas on sales, though I will say that most sales strategies are going to be dependant on location. In other words, what works for me in suburban Chicago may be inapplicable to you in the UK.

Anyway, I have had good success in going to art shows, county fairs, and holiday fairs. People seem very appreciative of the higher quality pens-especially roller balls and fountains, when dressed in burl/amalgum, truestone and exotic wood blanks.

Hope you find the sales you are looking for. All the best.

Hi, thanks for the recommendation for Woodturning I already subscribe and interestingly the magazine is available on iPhone and iPad. I was wondering if there are dedicated pen magazines that would inspire me and get me to the next level. Having looked at your website you are already there (signed guest book).

Keep turning

Phil

Thanks Phil, no magazines dedicated to penturning, however, there are a few books on the subject that can help you. Go to Amazon and do a search.
