I have had my lathe almost 30 years. It was originally bought to turn spindles when I started building furniture as a hobby. With health issues and home renos, the lathe got put in a corner and collected a lot of dust. I pulled it out about 10 years ago and started turning pens during winter. Deteriorating health put a stop to most outdoor and workshop hobbies for a few years. I have been back using my lathe for a few months now that I have resized everything to work sitting down.

I plan to turn pens, key chains and other things on a regular basis.

I am looking forward to doing a little experimentation as well.

Hi Allen, good to see you here. Ever hear of a little town called Manning...north of you a few hundred......had great fun up there for 4 years.
Hope you find all you need here on IAP....great guys and good wood.

Welcome to the IAP. It is a great time. There are several people on here from Alberta. I like the hotel you all have there. Stop there on my way to Jasper from time to time. I have never been able to find all 24 dinosaurs. The beach was very nice.

Welcome from Ohio!

Best of luck with the health issues. My most comfortable position is standing looking down at the lathe (neck/vertebra/back injuries).

Take care.

Hi read your storey, yup the lathe is good theraphy. Keep up the turning. I have just started up again myself I have made pens, small mallets and now I am doing bowls.
