My nephew, the nurse anesthetist, wanted a fine point cool rollerball pen, but did not want to deal with a cap. My search led me to this new (to me) kit from PSI. Single tube, 10.5 drill bit and almost junior gent pen body bushings. I ordered some fine point capless refills through Amazon and shipped those to him to complete the gift. Easy refill- just unscrew the nib!

He asked for redwood burl and gunmetal. Yes the clip is near the nib. The kit suggests this to avoid ink stains in the pocket. Sounds smart, though odd, to me.

I agree, the wood choice and finish are beautiful.
This is an interesting pen, and the clip location has an interesting logic to it. The question though is, how does it write? Does that clip get in the way of gripping the pen?

It writes quite well. The clip disappeared to my fingers and was not an issue. Superb ink cartridge with smooth ink flow as expected from Schmidt.
