Don't fall for this one, friends. There's nothing "real" about these messages.

Dear Manager:

We are the domain name registration organization in China, who mainly duty for domain name and Internet Trademark registration work.
Here,we have some important thing confirm with your company. On 8th May, 2009,we received an formal application ,one company named "Meihua "(China) Group" wanted to use the name " heritagepens " to register CN Internet domain names and Internet trademark.
After our initial examination, we found that the keyword and domain names applied for registration is the same with your company's name and trademark. So we send this mail to your company and need to confirm whether this company is your company's partner in China.
If it is,we will finish the all registration work.If it isn't, please ask your company's related person to contact us and solve this problem together as soon as possible. Thanks!
Best regards!

If you express an interest, they register the names, then sell them to you. Also, there is no such thing as an "internet trademark" so the protection they offer is, in fact, protection against nothing.

Nice. Lead paint in toys, "other" materials in toothpaste, crap in their drywall, MSG in the food....Will the Chinese stop at nothing? (this was a joke and not to be intended to diminish or downplay the seriousness of the original thread or badmouth any person, place or thing get over it.)

That reminds me of a couple of camera shops I visited in Hong Kong a few years ago. With any camera purchase - They tried to sell "Universal Warranties" good anywhere in any country at any camera shop.

Lou, are the phone numbers their version of a 900 number. Pay by the minute? I have heard of that being done before and they will make sure you are put on hold for a while.

My wife gets these all the time from China, and from other countries as well. Her attorney advised her - as Lou has also stated - that these are scams and the emails should be ignored/deleted.
