Hello all. I've been perusing this site for information for the past few weeks while I acclimated myself to this new hobby and finally thought that I should create an account and say hello.
I have always been a hands-on person and have made lots of stuff during my time and recently became introduced to pen turning. It is interesting to me since this is my first foray into wood with the exception of lumber. So far, so good!
It is also interesting to see where some of my past experiences may help with this new hobby; I have done a fair amount of composite work so I already have everything needed to work with epoxy if I decide to start making my own blanks, etc.
I have made a few pens and pencils so far and am pleased to say that every one that I make is better than the one before so at least this old dog can still learn a few new tricks.
Still much to learn, and techniques to refine. Looking forward to the journey and thank you one and all for the wealth of information and inspiration to be found here!
