Hello everyone. I started with traditional woodworking as a child under the tutelage of my grandfather. I have been making duck calls for a while now, as well as the occasional bottle stopper, tool handle, mallet, etc. Recently, my mother-in-law asked me if I could make her a nice pen to use daily (she is a worker's comp director for a large hospital). So, I figured it was time to join my third forum.

Welcome, Joe. Where in NC are you located? There are two penturning clubs in the state -- Raleigh & Charlotte areas -- if you are close enough. Lots of talented NC penturners all over the state.
